The Roman Province of Dacia

A detailed account of the history and culture of Dacia has yet to be written. For a brief history of the Roman province, see M. MACREA and D. TUDOR, 'Epoca sclavagistă romană (sec. I-III), Dacia în timpul stăpînirii romane', in Istoria Romîniei I (Bucharest, 196O), pp. 345-476; French and German editions were published in 1963 and 1964, respectively. Topographic research and finds are detailed according to site in the volumes of Tabula Imperii Romani (TIR), which cover Dacia's entire territory: TIR L-34, Aquincum - Sarmizegethusa - Sirmium (Budapest, 1968); TIR L-35, Romula - Durostorum - Tomis (Bucharest, 1969); TIR K-34, Naissus - Dyrrhachion - Scupi - Serdica - Thessalonike (Ljubljana, 1976). The province's Roman epigraphs are listed in Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum (CIL), Volume III. Epigraphs are also dealt with in an ongoing series of publications, Inscriptiones Daciae Romanae (IDR).
